EN The team of LIFE BioTHOP project has started testing tested industrial compostable (PLA) planting pots for hop plants production. Tecos, our partner in the project designed the model, initially only from PLA mass (transparent pots in photos and video), and then they were made with partners Zelfo Technology and TECNO by adding fibre from waste hop biomass (hops) (brown colour on photographs). These represent the first generation of the developed planting pots envisaged in the project, which represent more environmental friendly planting pots as an alternative to disposable single-use plastic products made of fossil-based sources. According to testing in IHPS greenhouses, the pots will be further modified, with the aim of a good response in seedling production and 100% biodegradability in industrial composting. These pots will be able to go to the brown composting containers after use, or they will be reused for the production of various vegetable seedlings.
