EN: To address the problems posed by the current use of plastics in EU agriculture and to minimise the potentially harmful effects on the environment and human health in the future, actions to reduce the use of plastics on the farm and to explore sustainable alternatives (such as bio-based plastics) are urgently needed. It is equally important to identify innovative ways to reuse and recycle plastic material. All this is the main objective of the EIP-AGRI FOCUS GROUP (FG) 41. Due to the COVID-19 situation the first meeting of the EIP-AGRI FG 41 was held on-line via BBB platform. In the afternoon session of the first-day LIFE BioTHOP project was presented by dr. Vesna Miličić from the Chamber of Agricultural and Food Enterprises as one of the good examples in the area of the circular economy-related to agriculture. The project was presented to 20 EIP-AGRI focus group members (farmers, farmers’ advisors, researches, industry and NGO representatives) from 11 different EU countries. It was very well accepted among the FG members as one of the good examples of how the use of plastics in agriculture can be reduced in practice.
